Our Boats

We have Family keel boats, Racing keel boats and the Classic Windermere 17 to use depending on what you want to do and where sailing is going to take you! Different people have different plans in mind when they take a sailing course, we will match your plans to the boat that will help you achieve them.

Family Keel Boats
If you have done some dinghy sailing before, looking at buying a small keel boat, or just starting out in your sailing adventure, then our Beneteau First 211 would be the best one for you. It has tiller steering (the stick you steer with) and is more responsive to sail. Most small keelboats will use this method and if you learn the method your possible future boat will have, it will make life a lot easier for you. There are more than 50 of these being sailed on the lake and are an ideal first step into keel boat sailing. (they are also the biggest fleet in the winter racing series!)

Racing Keel Boats
For a bit more performance, we use Hunter Formula one's. A keel boat more suited to racing than cruising and with lots more performance. With either boat the courses have the same content and you will learn to sail in the same way and learn the same skills.

Classic Keel boat
The Windermere 17 is a classic racing yacht. Raced and sailed only on Lake Windermere, Its sleek lines and impressive sail area, really do capture the imagination. There is no better sight than the fleet of 17’s racing round the lake.
